Our team of three girls was fascinated with the films before the 1930s. We decided to make an experimental short film to show audiences the change and the development of black and white films before the 1930s. The film has three parts, which was broken down from one narrative. The scenes were not unified in a coherent structure in order to experience how form (mise-en-scène) of the film will shape and affect the context (or the theme). We imitated some classical filming technique from D.W. Griffith’s movies we have watched during the semester, the Jazz Singer (1927), and Metropolis (1927).  The film was more like a collage of signature scenes and techniques, but not exactly a parody.

Since it was an experimental movie, every team members participated in the planning, the scripting and the filming of each scene. Additionally, I was responsible for creating the cover and the title cards or graphic design parts of the film.
